We are committed to providing safe, outdoor programs this winter. Learn about our COVID policies here >
Our Winter Camp program is all about kids having fun outdoors...even in the cold weather. Take advantage of the school breaks to enjoy all the forest has to offer this winter!
Explore the best in winter wilderness skills, including fire making, shelter building and animal tracking...plus lots of active, outdoor games! Registration is open to kids in grades 1-6, and is for five full days, 9 AM - 2 PM. Choose between two locations, Marsh Sanctuary in Mt Kisco or Brinton Brook Sanctuary in Croton, over December 27-31, 2021, and again February 21-25, 2022. Register for one or both weeks!
To make sure your children keep warm, we send out packing lists one week in advance for what is the best material and clothing to have your child wear at camp to avoid feeling uncomfortable and cold.
As long as these lists are followed, there won't be a problem with temperature regulation. We also often have campfires as part of our programming, especially in the winter season. Another tool our teachers use to keep kids warm is to do running around outdoor games when they notice the kids may start to get cold. This really pumps up the blood and helps keep kids warm!
Our weather policy calls for cancelling programs when temps are below 20 F, if active snowstorm, or if lightning or high winds are forecasted. In these situations we would give a 50% credit for that cancelled weather day. In all other weather conditions, we are outside having fun.
