Berry Baskets with Mahopac Girl Scouts

On September 9, in one of our first events as The Rewilding School, Eric & I had the pleasure of teaching Girl Scouts how to make a Berry Picking Basket.

(Okay, to be honest, it's Eric teaching, and me trying to keep up and assist)

Before the event even began we were able to explore the beautiful nature around Rock Hill Girl Scout Camp- the trees growing around the lake were especially perplexing, as we found trees that like their roots dry instead growing in places where there'd be flooding! We're quite curious if the lake here is a younger man-made lake or not.

The scouts were very engaged with Eric's story telling, and asked great questions about how people used different items in the natural world to survive before the time of refrigerators or heaters.

You can find some photos from this event below. We'd like to give special thanks to the Mahopac Rock Hill Girl Scouts for welcoming us and being such a great group to craft with, and to Ana for reaching out and asking us to be a part of this event!
